Nasittuq provides exemplary support services to the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert, situated in the Canadian Arctic. Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logistical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND).
WE ARE LOOKING FOR GENERAL LABOURERS/TRADES HELPERS
As a General Labourer/Trades Helper you will primarily be responsible for assisting various trades people to carry out their work. Tasks include but are not limited to: carrying tools, moving supplies and materials around the job site. You could also be asked to assist with moving gravel, building roads, bridges, roof repair, painting, patching walls, laying tile, moving materials, collecting refuse and clearing snow. Typically you would be working 6 days a week, 8 hr days. The person in this position should be ready, willing, and able to do almost anything asked of them and have the ability to work outdoors with exposure to severe outdoor winter weather conditions.
This position works 48 hours per week on an 8x4 rotation (8 weeks on-site and 4 weeks on leave). Work is carried out in a remote Arctic location with exposure to severe outdoor winter weather conditions.
Key Accountabilities:

Carrying Tools, moving supplies and materials around station

Assisting on projects, building roads, bridges, roof repairs, painting, patching walls, laying tile

Removing and clearing snow and ice from walkways and stairs to ensure areas are maintained and allow for safe passage

Miscellaneous cleaning of spills, broken glass, overflowed toilets, renovations, special events, etc
Qualifications:
-
Previous experience in similar roles
-
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs

Able to crouch and/or kneel, able to bend and reach

Must be eligible for RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company pre-employment medical

As overnight stay in Thule Greenland is a requirement, must possess a valid passport

Ability to work cross-culturally and a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
