Salary: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Thursday - 36 hours per week

Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and motivated frontend developer to join our team and contribute to the
development of an innovative app for Indigenous youth. The app aims to facilitate communication,
engagement, and collaboration among participants, organizers, and stakeholders of an Indigenous youth
event. The developer position is a great opportunity to contribute to software products that service
Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples across BC and Canada. We primarily produce database-backed
web applications using a variety of technologies and programming languages.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Ursa team to develop and maintain web applications
- See projects through to completion in a timely manner
- Participate in design and code review processes with the Ursa team
- Maintain active communication with the Ursa team and others about project status, timeline, and details
- Maintain active communication with the Ursa team and others about desired features, issue tracking, and project status
- Where appropriate, work can be done from home, although some in-office presence may be required
- Stay current on software development technology and make suggestions and recommendations as appropriate
- Work as part of an Agile team and participate in scrums and sprints
Requirements
Candidates should be comfortable working in a team-based environment, have some experience
developing web applications, and be generally familiar with database technologies. Some familiarity
with the software development life cycle is a plus. Familiarity and/or experience with one or more of the
following is required:
Familiarity and/or experience with one or more of the following technologies is highly desired, but not
required:
- TypeScript
- REST APIs
- Vue/Angular/React (or other frontend frameworks)
- Docker
- Web development in WordPress or other content management systems
Other useful skillsets:
- Familiarity with the Indigenous community in BC and Canada
- Familiarity with charities, non-profits, and First Nations in Canada
- Ability to work independently and to learn quickly
- Organized and detail oriented
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work on projects alone and within a team
- Passion for social impact and social service
- Confidence, tact, and skill in dealing with diverse communities: You may be dealing with various stakeholders including Indigenous organizations and people(s)
- Confidence, tact, and skill in dealing with marginalized people: You may be dealing with various marginalized stakeholders including social service organizations
