Job Description
Using strong analytical skills and health sector knowledge, the Organizational Performance (OP) Consultant works hand-in-hand with hospital leadership to transform clinical and/or business operations to deliver dramatic improvements in hospital efficiency, productivity and quality of patient care services. Working with partners in Finance, Human Resources, Quality and Patient Safety, and other enabling services, you will be a part of a wrap-around service model to support clinical program and/or hospital operations leadership.
Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Performance, the successful candidate will be surrounded by an engaged, highly motived team of OP consultants who are dedicated to provide data driven advice and solutions to the most challenging problems and opportunities at Osler. The successful incumbent will be assigned to a portfolio of programs and/or projects where they will develop a deep understanding of operational accountabilities, strategic goals, customer needs, clinical/business processes and other relevant information. With this deep understanding, the OP Consultant will support their portfolio clients with regular performance metric reviews, performance variance analysis, forecasting/scenario planning and improvement planning and implementation.
Accountabilities:

Conduct regular performance monitoring and performance variance analysis - derive insight through the identification of trends, patterns and relationships within data and identify improvement opportunities

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis and research e.g., market research, resource utilization review, and peer benchmarking

Use a structured, consultative approach to problem-solving

Engage with other enabling services and facilitate project and change management as needed

Build forecast/scenario planning models using internal and external data sources (i.e., IntelliHealth and CIHI Portal)

Develop a deep understanding of hospital operations and health systems processes to ensure effective client support

Collaborate with internal and external colleagues to ensure client success and health system effectiveness

Identify, and when applicable, support data quality improvement activities
-
Demonstrate a customer service focus when working with stakeholders
Qualifications
-
A Bachelors or Masters (preferred) degree in science, economics, engineering, business or math

Demonstrated focus on health administration, health information, health policy or equivalent preferred

Strong aptitude for problem solving, analyzing, and effective oral and written presentation skills required

The ability to take data and understand/process it, so insights can be extracted, visualized and presented in a manner that tells an accurate story that is used to drive and inspire improvement

Excellent relationship-building skills are required

Expert level skills in the use of Crystal Reports and Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Expert level skills in the use of statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS,R or MATLAB is a strong asset

Experience working with hospital information system (i.e. MEDITECH) environment is a strong asset

Working knowledge of hospital sector administrative data sets such as discharge abstract database and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System

Knowledge of Canadian and/or Ontario hospital reporting requirements and funding methodologies a strong asset

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments simultaneously adapting to change quickly

Demonstrated excellence in customer service with an ability to initiate and model positive change

Experience working within a multi-site health care organization is a strong asset
