Job Description
The Product Development Technologist will support the Product Development team through maintaining and developing programming for the Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Router, supporting development of product and manufacturing specifications and related documents, and providing continuous improvement and sustaining engineering support.
What will you do?
CNC Programming
-
Develop and maintain programming and nesting for CNC Router.

Identify and implement improvements in CNC programing to increase production efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality of products.

Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining, quality, or other production related issues.

Maintain detailed records of design changes, nesting configurations, and material usage to facilitate traceability and future reference.
Product Specifications and Documentation

Support development and maintenance of product specifications including specification sheets, items, BOMs, product matrices, product configurator, and other related documentation.

Develop and maintain design and manufacturing documentation including drawings, engineering specifications, standard operating procedures, test reports, and other related documentation.

Communicate design and manufacturing changes to Purchasing, Operations, Marketing and Sales.
Continuous Improvement and Sustaining Engineering

Analyze, develop, and/or implement appropriate manufacturing, process, and/or design changes to improve product, operational efficiency, and production costs.

Design manufacturing tools and boat components/systems.
-
Root cause and remedy product related production, quality, and supply issues.

Follow all applicable KingFisher Boats and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
-
High School Graduate with a strong technical background. Engineering Technologist diploma is strongly preferred.

Technical proficiency with CNC programming or machines.
-
Basic understanding of AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting application. A preference to Jetcam users and experience in the principles of aluminum boat design is preferred.

Experience with ERP systems including BOM management.

Experience with 3D modeling CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) is considered an asset.

Engineering documentation development, control, and change implementation experience.

Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Product and/or manufacturing equipment design experience is considered an asset.

Strong organizational and planning skills.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year

The company offers the following schedule options:
(5x8) Monday to Friday, 8-hour options:
- 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
- 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
(4x9 + 1x4) Monday to Thursday, 9-hour options + 4-hour Friday (pick one from each column):
Monday – Thursday, 9-hour options
(4x10) Monday to Thursday, 10-hour options:
- 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
- 7:00 am to 5:30 pm
